Welcome to the World of Zita and Bunny Crochet, where amigurumi toys come to life. I am delighted to introduce you to my creations and my passion. We all need some cute toy friends, regardless of our age. I am in my 40s, but I still love to be surrounded by pretty toys. When I was a child, I wanted to own a toy shop. I couldn’t fulfil my dreams, but with my toys I feel myself being in a magical toyshop every day. The best thing about the Zita and Bunny toys is that they are full of personality and they all have a story to tell.
Hi, I am Zita and I am the creator behind Zita and Bunny Crochet. I was born in Hungary, but living in England since 1999.
I was about 9-10 years old, when I first picked up a crochet hook. My mum taught me the basic stitches and I made a few clothes for my dolls. Unluckily I gave it up during my rebellious teenage years. Those years were full of adventures and fun, I could write a book about it, so I didn’t even think about crochet.
A few years ago I went through a very difficult time. I was diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety and PTSD. I was basically just sitting on the couch, crying my eyes out while I was just staring outside the window.
At one point I had enough and I decided to stand up and get my life back. I knew the first step was to socialize. I went to yoga class, self defence class, pottery class, and I also started to draw and paint. The last two did help me a lot and I still do those on a daily basis.
One day I saw this cute little crochet bunny on the internet. I loved it so much I wanted nothing, but to make it, so I put my shoes on and I ran to the closest art and craft shop and I bought a crochet mouse kit with extra yarn and one hook. When I came home, I sat down front of YouTube and I learnt the basic stitches again, so I could start on the mouse. It was a big struggle and it took me many days but I managed to do this.
Just for comparison this is my mouse, Coco who I made 3 years after and whose pattern I will share with you soon.
Obviously I knew this mouse was not perfect, but I loved it. I especially loved the fact that while I was crocheting, my brain was constantly counting, which meant I couldn’t think of the disaster that occupied my brain.
For all of these reasons I got addicted to crochet. Now, after 3 years, I decided to set up this blog, to help others who need motivation.

All of my projects are very close to my heart and they all have some connection to my life, most of them to my precious childhood. Apart from crocheting I love to paint and draw, which I try to combine with my crochet. I also love to learn languages, (I am a full time interpreter) and spend time with my 2 children, who I call my bunnies.
