FLO and BLO

Front loop (FLO) and back loop only (BLO) are an essential basic crochet technique in amigurumi.

It is very simple. When you hold your piece in your hand, you can see that every stitch has 2 loops. When you do a basic stitch, you need to insert your hook under both loops. However when you instructed to do FLO or BLO only insert your hook under only one.  The closest one to you is the Front Loop and the one on the other side is the Back Loop.

FLO

FLO:

1: When a pattern states FLO, insert the hook only in the Front loop and finish the stitch how you normally would.

This pattern is for FLO sc, as this is the most common to use in amigurumi

2: Yarn over and pull up a loop. ( 2 loops on hook)

3: Yarn over and pull through both loops.

BLO:

Insert your hook in the Back Loop and repeat step 2 and 3.
